TORSION BAR SPRING REMOVAL


  1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL

  2. REMOVE ENGINE SIDE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the 4 bolts and engine side cover (for Single Cab).

    2. Remove the 3 bolts and engine side cover (for Double Cab).

  3. REMOVE TORSION BAR SPRING

      Reused torsion bar spring:


      1. Slide the torsion bar dust cover in the anchor arm side, and place matchmarks on the torsion bar spring, anchor arm and front suspension torque arm.

    2. Fix the anchor arm adjust nut and remove the anchor arm lock nut.

      Measure dimension A of the anchor arm adjusting hexagon bolt.

    4. A01KGKIE01

      Loosen the anchor arm adjust nut until the torsion bar spring becomes free.

    5. Measure dimension B of the anchor arm adjusting hexagon bolt.

    6. Remove the anchor arm adjust nut, anchor arm adjuster seat, anchor arm adjusting hexagon bolt and anchor arm swivel.

    7. Remove the anchor arm and torsion bar spring.

    8. Remove the torsion bar dust cover form the torsion bar spring.

  4. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION TORQUE ARM

    1. Remove the 2 bolts and front suspension torque arm.

  5. INSPECT TORSION BAR SPRING

    1. Using a dial indicator, check the shaft runout.

      Maximum runout
      1.5 mm (0.059 in.)

      If the shaft runout is greater than the maximum, replace the torsion bar spring.
