REAR AXLE HUB (for Just Low Double Tire) INSTALLATION

Tech Tips

Replace the RH side by the same procedures with the LH side.


  1. INSTALL REAR AXLE INNER BEARING TAPERED ROLLER BEARING

    1. Using SST and a press, install the inner bearing inner race.

  2. INSTALL REAR AXLE OUTER BEARING TAPERED ROLLER BEARING

    A01KHNZE01

    1. Using SST and a press, install the outer bearing outer race.

      SST
      09950-60020   ( 09951-00720 )
      09950-70010   ( 09951-07150 )

  3. INSTALL REAR AXLE HUB LH OIL SEAL

    A01KFDJ

    1. Coat the inside of hub with MP grease.

    2. Coat the inner bearing with MP grease.

    3. Place the inner bearing into the axle hub.

    4. A01KF7RE01

      Using SST and a press, install a new rear axle hub oil seal RH to the axle hub.

  4. INSTALL REAR BRAKE DRUM SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. A01KFEV

      Using a press, install a new hub bolt.

    2. Install the nut then stake the bolt.

      Torque:
      123 N*m  { 1250 kgf*cm, 90 ft.*lbf }

  5. INSTALL AXLE HUB W/DRUM


    1. Place the rear axle hub & brake drum assembly on the rear axle housing.

    2. Install the outer bearing.

  6. INSTALL REAR AXLE BEARING LOCK NUT


    1. Install the rear axle bearing lock nut plate LH.

    2. Install the lock nut.

  7. ADJUST PRELOAD

      Using SST, torque the lock nut.

      Torque:
      58 N*m  { 600 kgf*cm, 43 ft.*lbf }

    2. Snug down the bearing by turning the hub several times.

    3. Using SST, retorque the lock nut.

      Torque:
      58 N*m  { 600 kgf*cm, 43 ft.*lbf }

    4. Using SST, loosen the lock nut by until it can turned hand.

      Using a spring tension gauge, measure the preload at the hub bolt.

      Preload (at starting)
      5 to 34 N (0.5 to 3.5 kgf, 1.19 to 7.7 lbf)

      Tech Tips

      Within the specified preload, align a lock nut mark with an axle housing mark.

      If preload is not within the specification, repeat the procedure above.

      *c -0.2 to 0.9 mm
      *d 2 to 3 mm

      Measure the distance between the top surface of axle housing and the lock nut.

      Standard distance
      -0.2 to 0.9 mm (-0.008 to 0.035 in.)

      If not within the specification, reinstall the axle hub.

  8. INSPECT AXLE HUB AXIAL PLAY

      Using a dial indicator, check the axle hub axial play.

      Standard clearance
      0.1 mm (0.0039 in.) or less

  9. INSTALL REAR AXLE BEARING LOCK NUT SCREW


    1. A01KGDX

      Install the rear axle bearing lock nut screw.

  10. INSTALL REAR TIRE

    Torque:
    170 N*m  { 1734 kgf*cm, 125 ft.*lbf }

  11. INSTALL REAR AXLE SHAFT GASKET LH

  12. INSTALL REAR AXLE SHAFT LH

    Torque:
    33 N*m  { 337 kgf*cm, 24 ft.*lbf }
