REAR AXLE HUB (for Just Low Double Tire) REMOVAL

Replace the RH side by the same procedures with the LH side.


  1. REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT LH

  2. REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT GASKET LH

  3. REMOVE REAR TIRE

  4. REMOVE SKID CONTROL SENSOR

  5. REMOVE REAR AXLE BEARING LOCK NUT

    1. Remove the 2 screws from the rear axle bearing lock nut.

    2. Using SST, remove the rear axle bearing lock nut.

    3. Remove the rear axle lock nut plate LH.

    4. Remove the outer bearing tapered roller bearing.

  6. REMOVE AXLE HUB W/DRUM


    1. Remove the rear axle hub & brake drum assembly.

  7. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB LH OIL SEAL

      Using SST, remove the rear axle hub oil seal RH.

    2. Remove the inner bearing from the axle hub.

  8. REMOVE REAR AXLE INNER BEARING TAPERED ROLLER BEARING

    1. Clean the bearing and inner races, and inspect them for wear or damage.

    2. Using a brass bar and a hammer, remove the inner bearing inner race.

  9. REMOVE REAR AXLE OUTER BEARING TAPERED ROLLER BEARING

    1. Clean the bearing and outer races, and inspect them for wear or damage.

    2. Using a brass bar and a hammer, remove the outer bearing outer race.

  10. REMOVE REAR BRAKE DRUM SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Unstake the 6 bolts and remove the 6 nuts.

    2. Using a press, remove the rear axle hub bolt and brake drum oil deflector RH.
