REAR AXLE HUB (for Full Just Low) REMOVAL

Tech Tips

Replace the RH side by the same procedures with the LH side.


  1. REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT LH

  2. REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT GASKET LH

  3. REMOVE REAR TIRE

  4. REMOVE REAR AXLE BEARING LOCK NUT


    1. Remove the 2 screws from the rear axle bearing lock nut.

    2. Remove the rear axle lock nut plate LH.

      Using SST, remove the rear axle bearing lock nut.

    4. Remove the rear axle lock nut plate LH.

    5. Remove the rear axle outer tapered roller bearing.

  5. REMOVE AXLE HUB W/DRUM

      Using SST, remove the rear axle hub & brake drum assembly.

  6. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB LH OIL SEAL

      Using SST, remove the rear axle hub oil seal RH.

    2. Remove the inner bearing from the axle hub.

  7. REMOVE REAR AXLE INNER BEARING TAPERED ROLLER BEARING

    1. Clean the bearing and inner races, and inspect them for wear or damage.

    2. Using a brass bar and a hammer, remove the inner bearing inner race.

  8. REMOVE REAR AXLE OUTER BEARING TAPERED ROLLER BEARING

    1. Clean the bearing and outer races, and inspect them for wear or damage.

    2. Using a brass bar and a hammer, remove the outer bearing outer race.

  9. REMOVE REAR BRAKE DRUM SUB-ASSEMBLY (W/ ABS)


    1. Place matchmarks on the rear axle brake drum sub-assembly and rear axle hub.

    2. Remove the 6 bolts.

    3. Remove the rear axle hub from the brake drum.

  10. REMOVE REAR BRAKE DRUM SUB-ASSEMBLY (W/O ABS))

      Place matchmarks on the rear axle hub and drum brake.

    2. Remove the 6 bolts.

    3. Remove the rear axle hub from the drum brake.

    4. Remove the rear axle hub and brake drum oil deflector RH.

  11. REMOVE SKID CONTROL ROTOR REAR (W/ ABS)

      Using a screwdriver and a hammer, remove the rear skid control rotor.
