MANUAL TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY (for 1KD-FTV) REMOVAL


  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

  2. DRAIN MANUAL TRANSMISSION OIL


    1. Remove the drain plug and gasket and then drain the manual transmission oil.

    2. Install a new gasket and drain plug.

      Torque:
      37 N*m  { 377 kgf*cm, 27 ft.*lbf }

  3. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 2 bolts and the 2 compression springs.

    2. Remove the 2 hangers and the front exhaust pipe.

      Remove the gasket.

  4. REMOVE REAR PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY (for 2 Joint Type)

    1. Place matchmarks on the propeller shaft flange and parking brake drum.

    2. Remove the 4 nuts and 4 washers.

      Place matchmarks on the propeller shaft flange and differential flange.

    4. Remove the 4 nuts, 4 bolts and 4 washers.

    5. Remove the propeller shaft assembly.

  5. REMOVE REAR PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY (for 3 Joint Type)

  6. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE DRUM SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Pull the parking brake lever full distance.

    2. Using a SST and a hammer, loosen the staked part of the nut.

      Using socket wrench 32 mm, remove the nut.

    4. Remove the drum.

      Tech Tips

      If the brake drum cannot be removed easily, turn the shoe adjuster clockwise until the drum turns freely.

  7. SEPARATE PARKING BRAKE PLATE SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the 4 bolts, separate the parking brake plate sub-assembly from the transmission assembly.

  8. DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS


    1. Disconnect the back-up light connector.

    2. Disconnect the speed sensor connector.

  9. DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL SHIFT CABLE

    1. Remove the nut.

    2. Remove the clip and disconnect the shift cable.

  10. DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL SELECT CABLE

    1. Remove the nut.

    2. Remove the clip and disconnect the select cable.

  11. REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY


    1. A01KGB5

      Disconnect the connector.

    2. Open the terminal cap.

    3. Remove the nut and disconnect the wire harness.

      Remove the bolt and nut and remove the starter.

  12. SEPARATE CLUTCH RELEASE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 2 bolts and separate the clutch release cylinder.

  13. SUPPORT MANUAL TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY


    1. Support the manual transmission with a transmission jack.

  14. SEPARATE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR ASSEMBLY

      Remove the bolt and nut and separate the rear engine mounting insulator from the rear engine mounting bracket.

  15. REMOVE NO. 4 CYLINDER BLOCK INSULATOR

      Remove the No. 4 cylinder block insulator.

  16. REMOVE NO. 2 REAR END PLATE


    1. A01KGS0

      Remove the 4 bolts and the No. 2 rear end plate.

  17. REMOVE MANUAL TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 5 bolts and the manual transmission.

  18. REMOVE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR ASSEMBLY

      Remove the nut and disconnect the shift cable link.

    2. A01KIHA

      Remove the 4 bolts and the rear engine mounting insulator.
