GENERATOR (w/ DPF) INSPECTION


  1. INSPECT GENERATOR WITH CLUTCH PULLEY

      Rotate the pulley and check that it turns clockwise and it does not turn counterclockwise.

  2. INSPECT GENERATOR BRUSH HOLDER ASSEMBLY

      Using a vernier caliper, measure the brush length.

      Standard length
      10.5 mm (0.413 in.)
      Minimum length
      4.5 mm (0.177 in.)

      If the length is less than the minimum, replace the brush holder assembly.

  3. CHECK GENERATOR ROTOR ASSEMBLY

      Check that the bearing is not rough or worn.

      If necessary, replace the rotor.

      *1 Slip rings

      Check the rotor for open circuit.


      1. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the slip rings.

        Standard Resistance
        Standard Resistance Condition Specified Condition
        Slip ring - Slip ring 20°C (68°F) 2.3 to 2.7 Ω

        If the resistance is not within the standard range, replace the rotor.

      Check the rotor for short circuits.

      Standard Resistance
      Standard Resistance Condition Specified Condition
      Slip ring - Rotor Always 10 MΩ or higher

      1. Using an ohmmeter, check the resistance between the slip ring and rotor.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the rotor.

    4. A01KHPN

      Using a vernier caliper, measure each slip ring diameter.

      Standard diameter
      14.2 to 14.8 mm (0.559 to 0.583 in.)
      Minimum diameter
      14.0 mm (0.551 in.)

      If either diameter is less than the minimum, replace the rotor.
