DRAIN ENGINE OIL
REMOVE TIMING BELT
REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING PULLEY
REMOVE TIMING BELT NO.2 COVER
REMOVE VACUUM PUMP ASSEMBLY
Remove the 2 nuts and vacuum pump.
Remove 2 the O-rings.
DISCONNECT VANE PUMP ASSEMBLY
REMOVE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY
Using SST, remove the pulley bolt and plate.
Using SST, remove the crankshaft pulley.
REMOVE V-RIBBED BELT TENSIONER ASSEMBLY
Remove the 5 bolts and alternator with belt tensioner assembly.
REMOVE WATER PUMP ASSEMBLY
Remove the 5 bolts, 2 nuts, water pump and gasket.
REMOVE CRANK POSITION SENSOR
REMOVE CRANK POSITION NO.2 SENSOR
REMOVE INJECTION PUMP ASSEMBLY
REMOVE ENGINE OIL LEVEL SENSOR
REMOVE STIFFENER PLATE RH (MTM)
REMOVE STIFFENER PLATE LH (MTM)
REMOVE CYLINDER BROCK INSULATOR NO.4
REMOVE REAR END PLATE
REMOVE OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY
Remove the 22 bolts and 2 nuts.

Using an oil pan seal cutter, remove the oil pan.
Note
The operation should be done slowly so as not to deform the flange of the oil pan.
Do not push it into the timing gear case.
REMOVE TIMING GEAR CASE
Remove the bolt, nut and washer and disconnect the vacuum pipe.
Remove the 14 bolts and 2 nuts.
Using a screwdriver, pry out the timing gear cover.
Note
Be careful not to drop the injection pump gear.

Remove the O-ring from the timing belt cover.
Remove the crank position sensor plate.
REMOVE TIMING GEAR COVER OIL SEAL (Injection Pump)

Using a screwdriver and hammer, tap out the oil seal.
REMOVE TIMING GEAR COVER OIL SEAL (Crankshaft Front)

Using a screwdriver and hammer, tap out the oil seal.
REMOVE INJECTION GEAR
REMOVE IDLE GEAR THRUST PLATE
Secure the idler sub-gears to the idler gear with a service bolt.
| Thread diameter | 6 mm |
| Thread pitch | 1.0 mm |
| Bolt length | 28.0 mm (1.10 in.) |
Remove the 2 bolts, thrust plate, idler gear assembly and idler gear shaft.
REMOVE IDLE GEAR NO.1
REMOVE IDLE GEAR SHAFT NO.1
REMOVE CRANKSHAFT TIMING GEAR OR SPROCKET
Using SST, remove the crankshaft pulley.
REMOVE TIMING GEAR CASE ASSEMBLY (Oil Pump Assembly)
Remove the 8 bolts and union bolt.
Using a screwdriver, pry out the oil pump assembly.
Remove the gasket.
Remove the stud bolt.
Remove the 2 O-rings.
