LUBRICATION SYSTEM (w/o DPF) ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION


  1. CHECK OIL QUALITY


    1. Check the oil for deterioration, water contamination, discoloration or thinning.

      If the oil is visibly poor, replace the oil and oil filter.

  2. CHECK OIL LEVEL


    1. Warm up the engine, stop the engine and wait 5 minutes.

    2. Check that the oil level is between the upper level and lower level of the oil level gauge.

      If the oil level is low, check for leakage and add oil up to the upper level of the oil level gauge.

  3. CHECK OIL PRESSURE


    1. Remove the engine oil pressure switch.


      1. Disconnect the oil pressure switch connector.

        Using a 24 mm deep socket wrench, remove the oil pressure switch.

      Install the oil pressure gauge.

    3. Start and warm up the engine.

    4. Check the oil pressure.

      Standard
      Engine RPM Oil Pressure
      When idling

      29 kPa (0.3 kgf/cm2, 4.2 psi) or higher

      At 3000 rpm

      245 kPa (2.5 kgf/cm2, 33 psi) or higher

      If the oil pressure is not as specified, check the oil pump Click here.

    5. Remove the oil pressure gauge.

      *1 Adhesive

      Install the oil pressure switch.


      1. Apply adhesive to 2 or 3 threads of the oil pressure switch.

        Adhesive
        Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1344, Three Bond 1344 or equivalent
      2. Install the oil pressure switch and wait at least 1 hour for the adhesive to dry.

        Torque:
        15 N*m  { 153 kgf*cm, 11 ft.*lbf }
      3. Connect the oil pressure switch connector.

    7. Start the engine and inspect for oil leak.
