LUBRICATION SYSTEM ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION


  1. CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL


    1. The engine warmed up and then 5 minutes have passed after the engine stops.

    2. The oil level should be between the "L" and "F" marks on the dipstick.

      If low, check for leakage and add oil up to the "F" mark.

      Note

      Do not add engine oil above the "F" mark.

  2. CHECK ENGINE OIL QUALITY

    1. Check the oil for deterioration, entry of water, discoloring or thinning.

    2. If the quality is visibly poor, replace the oil.

      Oil grade
      API CF-4 or CF (You may also use API CE or CD)

      Tech Tips

      If you use SAE 10W-30 or higher viscosity oil in extremely low temperature, the engine may become difficult to start, so SAE 5W-30 engine oil is recommended.

  3. REMOVE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the engine under cover No.1.

    2. Remove the engine under cover No.2.

    3. Disconnect the vacuum pump oil inlet hose.

    4. Using SST, remove the engine oil pressure switch assembly.

  4. INSTALL OIL PRESSURE GAUGE

    1. Install an oil pressure gauge.

  5. CHECK OIL PRESSURE

    Oil pressure:
    At idle

    29 kPa (0.3 kgf*cm2,4.3 psi) or more
    At 3000 rpm

    294 - 539 kPa (3.0 - 5.5 kgf*cm2, 43 - 78 psi)

  6. INSTALL OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. Apply adhesive to 2 or 3 threads of the oil pressure switch.

      Adhesive
      TOYOTA Genuine Adhesive 1344, Three Bond 1344 or equivalent

      Note

      Do not start the engine within 1 hour after the installation.

    2. Using SST, install the oil pressure switch.

      SST
      09816-30010
      Torque:
      15 N*m  { 150 kgf*cm, 11 ft.*lbf }

    3. Install the vacuum pump oil inlet hose with 2 new gaskets.

      Torque:
      25 N*m  { 260 kgf*cm, 18 ft.*lbf }

    4. Install the engine under cover No.1.

    5. Install the engine under cover No.2.

  7. CHECK ENGINE OIL LEAK
