TURBOCHARGER ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION


  1. INSPECT INTAKE AIR SYSTEM


    1. Check for leak or clogging between the air cleaner case and cylinder head.

  2. INSPECT EXHAUST SYSTEM


    1. Check for leak or clogging between the cylinder head and exhaust pipe.

  3. CHECK TURBO PRESSURE

    1. Warm up the engine.

    2. Using a 3-way connector, connect SST to the hose leading to the intake air connector.

    3. Measure the turbocharging pressure at the maximum speed (5100 - 5250 rpm).

      Standard pressure
      58.5 - 78.9 kPa (0.60 - 0.80 kgf*cm2, 8.5 - 11.4 psi)

      If the pressure is less than the specified, check the intake air and exhaust systems for leakage.

      If there is no leakage, check the turbocharger.

      If the pressure is above the specification, check if the actuator hose is disconnected or cracked. If not, check the turbocharger.

  4. INSPECT TURBINE SHAFT ROTATION


    1. Disconnect the air cleaner hose No. 2.

    2. Check that the turbine shaft rotates smoothly.
