EGR COOLER (w/ EGR Cooler Bypass Valve) INSPECTION

  1. INSPECT NO. 2 VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE

    A01KEKOE03

    1. Measure the resistance between the terminals.

      Standard resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 20°C (68°F) 33 to 39 Ω

If the result is not as specified, replace the No. 2 vacuum switching valve.

    2. A01KEARE01

Apply battery voltage across the terminals, and check that air flows from E to F.

      Standard
      Measuring Condition Airflow
      Battery voltage applied Airflows
Battery voltage not applied Air does not flow

If the result is not as specified, replace the No. 2 vacuum switching valve.

  2. INSPECT NO. 2 EGR VALVE ASSEMBLY

      *1 Diaphragm
      *2 Valve

      Inspect the EGR valve.

      1. Check that the valve operates by applying a vacuum to the diaphragm.

        Standard
        Conditions for Check Operation
6.7 kPa (50.2 mmHg, 1.97 in.Hg) or higher The H side of the valve closes
33.3 kPa (249.8 mmHg, 9.8 in.Hg) or less The C side of the valve opens
      2. Check that the indicator needle does not drop when a vacuum of 59 kPa (443 mmHg, 17.4 in.Hg) or higher is applied to the diaphragm chamber using a vacuum pump.
