TIMING BELT REMOVAL

If replacing the timing belt before the timing belt warning light comes on, (light comes on after 100000 km of driving), be sure to reset the timing belt counter of the speedometer to zero.

Note


  • When installing, clean up the seal surface of the injector, injection pipe, fuel inlet pipe, supply pump and common rail with clean light oil.

  • In case of having the common rail and/or injectors replaced, must replace injection pipes, too.

  • In case of having the supply pump and/or common rail replaced, must replace fuel inlet pipe, too.


  1. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL

  2. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY RH (W/O TILT CAB CAB TYPE)

  3. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY (DRIVER SEAT) (W/O TILT CAB CAB TYPE)

  4. REMOVE TRANSMISSION FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY (W/O TILT CAB CAB TYPE)



  5. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (W/O TILT CAB CAB TYPE)

  6. REMOVE ENGINE SERVICE HOLE SUB COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (W/O TILT CAB CAB TYPE)


    1. Remove the front door scuff.

    2. Remove the floor mat.

    3. Remove the 7 bolts and engine service hole sub-cover.

  7. REMOVE ENGINE SIDE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

  8. REMOVE ENGINE SIDE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

  9. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT

  10. REMOVE FAN AND GENERATOR V BELT


    1. Loosen the belt tension by turning the belt tensioner clockwise, and remove the V belt.

  11. REMOVE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY

  12. REMOVE TURBO WATER HOSE NO.1

  13. REMOVE TIMING BELT NO.1 COVER

  14. SET NO. 1 CYLINDER TO TDC / COMPRESSION

      Turn the crankshaft pulley clockwise, set both No.1 and No.2 camshaft pulley grooves at TDC marks.

      Tech Tips

      If reusing the timing belt, draw a direction arrow on the bolt (in the direction of engine revolution), and place matchmarks on the pulleys and belt as shown in the illustration.

  15. REMOVE CHAIN TENSIONER ASSEMBLY NO.1


    1. Alternately loosen the 2 bolts, remove them and timing belt tensioner.

  16. REMOVE TIMING BELT IDLER SUB-ASSEMBLY NO.1


    1. Using a 10 mm hexagon wrench, remove the bolt, timing belt idler pulley and washer.

  17. REMOVE TIMING BELT
