DRIVE BELT INSPECTION


  1. INSPECT FAN & GENERATOR V BELT

    Note

    It is unnecessary to measure the tension and flexibility of the V belt due to the adoption of the V belt automatic tensioner.


    1. Make sure that the belt tensioner indicator is within range B.

      If the mark is not in range B, replace the V belt.

      Tech Tips


      • After the replacement of the V belt, make sure that the belt tensioner indicator is within range A.

        After installing the V belt, check that it fits properly in the ribbed grooves. Check with your hand that the belt has not slipped out of the grooves on the bottom of the crank pulley.

      • A "new belt" is a belt which has been used for less than 5 minutes on a running engine.

      • A "used belt" is a belt which has been used on a running engine for 5 minutes or more.

      • After installing a new belt, run the engine for approximately 5 minutes and then recheck the tension.
