INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Tech Tips

Read freeze frame data using intelligent tester. Because freeze frame records the engine conditions when the malfunction is detected. When troubleshooting it is useful for determining whether the vehicle was running or stopped, the engine was warmed up or not, the air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, etc. at the time of the malfunction.

  1. CHECK ECM (CHECK FOR OPEN)

      Check the continuity between terminals of the ECM connector as shown in the table and illustration.

      Continuity (Resistance)

      Terminal

      (ECM) ←→ ECM (Ground))

      Standard

      (Resistance)
      RINJ1 (E7-26) ←→ E1 (E7-22)

      Continuity

      (1 Ω or less)
      RINJ2 (E7-25) ←→ E1 (E7-22)
      RINJ3 (E7-24) ←→ E1 (E7-22)
      RINJ4 (E7-23) ←→ E1 (E7-22)

    OK

    CHECK AND REPLACE ECM Click here

  2. CHECK INJECTOR ASSEMBLY (CHECK RESISTANCE)

      *1 Ohmmeter

      Disconnect the 4 injector connectors.

    2. Check the resistance between terminals of the injector assembly as shown in the table and illustration.

      Resistance (at 20°C (68°F)
      Terminal Resistance
      1 ←→ 2 30 - 9,530 Ω

    REPLACE INJECTOR ASSEMBLY
