| DTC Code | DTC Name |
|---|---|
| 15 | Throttle Control Motor Circuit Malfunction |
DESCRIPTION
Throttle control motor is operated by the ECM and it opens and closes the throttle valve.
The fully opening of the throttle valve is detected by the throttle fully open position switch which is mounted on the throttle body.
If this DTC is stored, the ECM shuts down the power for the throttle control motor.
| DTC No. | DTC Detecting Condition | Trouble Area |
| 15 | Open or short in throttle control motor circuit |
|
| Open or short in throttle full switch circuit |

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
Tech Tips
Read freeze frame data using intelligent tester. Because freeze frame records the engine conditions when the malfunction is detected. When troubleshooting, it is useful for determining whether the vehicle was running or stopped, the engine was warmed up or not, the air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, etc. at the time of the malfunction.
PROCEDURE
CHECK DIESEL THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY (THROTTLE CONTROL MOTOR CIRCUIT)
| *a | 10 V/ Division |
| *b | Signal Waveform |
| *c | 0.5 msec./Division |
Connect the oscilloscope between terminals LU+A/LU- A/LU+B/LU-B and E7 of the ECM.
Start the engine.
Check the waveform between terminals LU+A/LU-A/ LU+B/LU-B and E7 of the ECM when the engine is racing.

CHECK WIRE HARNESS (ECM - THROTTLE CONTROL MOTOR)
Disconnect the throttle control motor connector.
Disconnect the ECM (E7) connector.
Check the continuity between terminals of throttle control motor and ECM connectors as shown in the illustration and table.
