DESCRIPTION

The manifold absolute pressure sensor detects the intake manifold pressure by using the built-in sensor unit. The ECM determines the basic injection duration and injection advance timing based on the voltage output by the manifold absolute pressure sensor.

The manifold absolute pressure sensor monitors the absolute pressure inside the intake manifold (default is 0 kPa (0 mmHg, 0 in.Hg)). As a result the ECM controls the air-fuel ratio at the proper level under all driving conditions, and is not influenced by fluctuations in the atmospheric pressure due to factors such as high altitude, etc.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Tech Tips

If DTCs P0107 and P0108 are output simultaneously, the manifold absolute pressure sensor circuit may have an open or short. Perform troubleshooting for these DTCs first.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P0106)


    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the tester on.

    3. Select the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / DTC.

    4. Read DTCs.

      Result
      Display (DTC Output) Proceed to
      P0106 A
      P0106 and other DTCs B

      Tech Tips

      If codes other than P0106 are output, perform troubleshooting for those DTCs first.
