MANUAL TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY REMOVAL


  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

  2. REMOVE EXHAUST RETARDER ASSEMBLY

      Disconnect the vacuum hose.

    2. A01CHNOE01

      Remove the 4 bolts and exhaust retarder assembly.

    3. Remove the 2 gaskets.

  3. REMOVE EXHAUST FRONT PIPE ASSEMBLY

      Remove the bolt.

    2. A01CI20E01

      Remove the 3 nuts and front exhaust pipe assembly.

    3. Remove the gasket.

  4. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST PIPE SUPPORT BRACKET

      Remove the 2 bolts and No. 1 exhaust pipe support bracket.

  5. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY

  6. REMOVE MANUAL TRANSMISSION OUTPUT SHAFT REAR SET NUT

      Using a chisel and a hammer, release the staked part of the transmission output shaft rear set nut.

    2. Pull the parking brake lever fully, and shift into the reverse position.

    3. A01CHRW

      Using a 36 mm socket wrench, remove the transmission output shaft rear set nut.

    4. Using a screwdriver, remove the O-ring.

  7. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE DRUM SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Remove the bolt and dust cover from the parking brake drum.

    2. Release the parking brake lever.

    3. Remove the parking brake drum sub-assembly and companion flange.

      If the brake drum cannot be removed easily, turn the shoe adjuster in the direction of the illustrated arrow mark until the drum turns freely.

  8. SEPARATE PARKING BRAKE PLATE SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 4 nuts and disconnect the parking brake plate sub-assembly.

      Tech Tips

      Use wire or an equivalent tool to keep the parking brake plate sub-assembly from hanging down by the parking brake cable.

  9. DISCONNECT FLOOR SHIFT CABLE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SELECT

      Remove the nut and control select cable from the select lever.

  10. DISCONNECT FLOOR SHIFT CABLE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SHIFT


    1. A01CIE5E01

      Remove the nut and control shift cable from the shift lever.

  11. SEPARATE CLUTCH RELEASE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY


    1. A01CHMO

      Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the clutch release cylinder.

  12. SUPPORT TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY


    1. Support the transmission assembly with a transmission jack.

  13. DISCONNECT NO. 3 ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET


    1. A01CH6D

      Remove the nut.

    2. A01CI1C

      Remove the 3 bolts and 3 washers and disconnect the No. 3 engine mounting bracket.

  14. DISCONNECT NO. 1 ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET


    1. A01CH1X

      Remove the nut.

    2. A01CI3C

      Remove the 3 bolts and 3 washers and disconnect the No. 1 engine mounting bracket.

  15. SUPPORT ENGINE ASSEMBLY


    1. Support the engine assembly with a transmission jack.

      Note

      Do not tilt the engine and transmission assembly more than necessary.

  16. REMOVE MANUAL TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY


    1. Disconnect the connector and clamp.

    2. A01CHNG

      Remove the 12 bolts.

    3. Remove the transmission assembly.

      Note

      Do not apply excessive force to the transmission assembly as this will cause the input shaft to break.

  17. REMOVE CLUTCH RELEASE BEARING ASSEMBLY


    1. A01CJ29

      Separate the clutch release fork from the release fork support.

    2. Remove the clutch release fork with the clutch release bearing assembly from the transmission assembly.

    3. Remove the boot.

    4. A01CIT1

      Disconnect the release bearing assembly from the release fork.

  18. REMOVE RELEASE FORK SUPPORT


    1. A01CHMM

      Remove the release fork support.
