PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION


  1. INSTALL PROPELLER INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY


    1. Completely remove any oil or the like and clean the contact surfaces of the intermediate shaft flange and the parking brake drum.

    2. Align the matchmarks on the intermediate shaft flange and parking brake drum.

    3. Install the 4 nuts and 4 washers.

      Torque:
      103 N*m  { 1050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf }

      Tech Tips

      Engage the parking brake.

    4. Install the propeller intermediate shaft assembly with 4 new nuts, 4 new bolts and the center support bearing holder.

      Torque:
      28 N*m  { 286 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf }

  2. INSTALL CENTER PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY (for 4 Joint Type)


    1. Completely remove any oil or the like and clean the contact surfaces of the center propeller shaft flange and the intermediate shaft flange.

    2. Align the matchmarks on the center propeller shaft flange and the intermediate shaft flange, and temporarily install the 4 washers and 4 nuts.

    3. Tighten the 4 nuts.

      Torque:
      75 N*m  { 760 kgf*cm, 55 ft.*lbf }

    4. Install the center propeller shaft assembly with 4 new nuts, 4 new bolts and the center support bearing holder.

      Torque:
      28 N*m  { 286 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf }

  3. INSTALL PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY


    1. for 3 Joint Type:


      1. Completely remove any oil or the like and clean the contact surfaces of the propeller shaft flange and intermediate shaft flange.

      2. Align the matchmarks on the propeller shaft flange and the intermediate shaft flange, and temporarily install the 4 washers and 4 nuts.

    2. for 4 Joint Type:


      1. Completely remove any oil or the like and clean the contact surfaces of the propeller shaft flange and the center propeller shaft flange.

      2. Align the matchmarks on the propeller shaft flange and the center propeller shaft flange, and temporarily install the 4 washers and 4 nuts.

    3. Tighten the 4 nuts.

      Torque:
      75 N*m  { 760 kgf*cm, 55 ft.*lbf }

      Tech Tips

      Engage the parking brake.

    4. Completely remove any oil or the like and clean the contact surfaces of the propeller shaft flange and the differential flange.

    5. Align the matchmarks on the propeller shaft flange and differential flange.

  4. APPLY GREASE


    1. Apply MP grease through the grease fitting of the joint section.

    2. Apply MP grease through the grease fitting of the sleeve yoke.

    3. Apply MP grease through the grease fitting of the universal joint flange.
