PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY INSPECTION


  1. INSPECT PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY


    1. Check the shaft tube for wear or damage.

    2. A01CH8X

      Set the propeller shaft on V blocks. Using a dial indicator, measure the runout of the center of the propeller shaft.

      Standard runout
      0 to 0.6 mm (0 to 0.0236 in.)
      Maximum runout
      1.0 mm (0.0394 in.)
    3. If the shaft runout is greater than the maximum, replace the shaft assembly.

  2. INSPECT UNIVERSAL JOINT SPIDER ASSEMBLY


    1. A01CJCW

      Shake the spider in the axial and right angle directions strongly with both hands, and check that there is no looseness in the spider and spider bearing.

      Note

      If there is deformation or damage, replace the spider or spider bearing.

  3. INSPECT NO. 1 CENTER SUPPORT BEARING ASSEMBLY

    A01CGTL

    1. Check that the center bearing rotates smoothly when rotated by hand and check that there are no cracks or damage. If there are any malfunctions, replace the bearing.

    2. If there is any damage in the lip of the center bearing case, replace it.

      Note

      Do not soak the center bearing in the cleaner.

      If there are any scratches or cracks on the surface of the cushion rubber or damage on the bearing plate, replace them.
