PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY REMOVAL

CAUTION:

When the propeller shaft assembly, center propeller shaft assembly or propeller intermediate shaft assembly is removed, the parking brake becomes ineffective. Therefore, always be sure the vehicle is on a level surface and wheel chocks, etc. are used so that the vehicle cannot move.


  1. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY


    1. for 3 Joint Type:

        Place matchmarks on the propeller shaft flange and differential flange.

      2. Remove the 4 nuts and 4 washers, and separate the propeller shaft assembly from the differential carrier.

        Tech Tips


        • Engage the parking brake.

        • If the flange connection is difficult to separate, temporarily install one nut and evenly tap the propeller shaft flange part with a brass bar and hammer.

        Place matchmarks on the propeller shaft flange and intermediate shaft flange.

      4. Remove the 4 nuts and 4 washers.

      5. Slide the slide yoke towards the rear of the vehicle and remove the propeller shaft assembly.

        Tech Tips

        If the flange connection is difficult to separate, temporarily install one nut and evenly tap the propeller shaft flange part with a brass bar and hammer.

    2. for 4 Joint Type:

        Place matchmarks on the propeller shaft flange and differential flange.

      2. Remove the 4 nuts and 4 washers, and separate the propeller shaft assembly from the differential carrier.

      4. Remove the 4 nuts and 4 washers.

      5. Slide the slide yoke towards the rear of the vehicle and remove the propeller shaft assembly.

  2. REMOVE CENTER PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY (for 4 Joint Type)


    1. A01CHS5

      Remove the 4 nuts, 4 bolts and center support bearing holder.

      Note

      Fix the center propeller shaft assembly in place with a wire, etc. so that it does not fall.

      Tech Tips

      Turn the nuts while holding the bolts in place.

      Place matchmarks on the center propeller shaft flange and intermediate shaft flange.

    3. Remove the 4 nuts and 4 washers.

    4. Remove the center propeller shaft assembly.

      Tech Tips

      If the flange connection is difficult to separate, temporarily install one nut and evenly tap the propeller shaft flange part with a brass bar and hammer.

  3. REMOVE PROPELLER INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY


    1. A01CHS5

      Remove the 4 nuts, 4 bolts and center support bearing holder.

      Note

      Fix the propeller intermediate shaft assembly in place with a wire, etc. so that it does not fall.

      Tech Tips

      Turn the nuts while holding the bolts in place.

      Place matchmarks on the intermediate shaft flange and parking brake drum.

    3. Remove the 4 nuts and 4 washers.

    4. Remove the propeller intermediate shaft assembly.

      Tech Tips

      If the flange connection is difficult to separate, temporarily install one nut and evenly tap the propeller shaft flange part with a brass bar and hammer.
