REMOVE STARTER BRUSH HOLDER ASSEMBLY
Remove the nut and 2 washers and disconnect the lead wire from terminal M.
Remove the 2 bolts.
Remove the 2 bolts and commutator end frame.
Remove the starter plate.
Disconnect the 4 brushes from the starter brush holder assembly.

Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, hold back the brush spring.
Disconnect the brush from the starter brush holder assembly.
Remove the starter brush holder assembly.
REMOVE STARTER ARMATURE ASSEMBLY
Remove the starter armature assembly.
REMOVE STARTER YOKE ASSEMBLY
Remove the starter yoke assembly.
Remove the 2 rubber seals.
REMOVE STARTER CLUTCH SUB-ASSEMBLY

Using a snap ring expander and a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, remove the retainer.
Remove the starter pinion assembly.
Remove the 2 bolts and starter drive housing.
Remove the switch gasket.

Using the holder portion of the pinion drive lever, push the pinion drive lever against the starter clutch sub-assembly and disconnect the pinion drive lever from the plunger.

Rotate the pinion drive lever around the starter clutch sub-assembly and remove it.
Raise the starter clutch sub-assembly, and then remove the clip using needle-nose pliers.
Remove the starter plate.
Lift up the starter clutch sub-assembly to remove it.
Tech Tips
If the starter clutch sub-assembly cannot be removed, perform the following procedure.
Press the starter clutch against the starter motor housing, shift the starter clutch by 1 helical spline, and then lift up the starter clutch to remove it.
REMOVE DUST STARTER PROTECTOR

Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, pry up the dust starter protector.
