PRE-HEATING SYSTEM ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

Note

Turn the ignition switch off for 60 seconds before performing the following inspections.


  1. INSPECT ILLUMINATION DURATION OF GLOW INDICATOR LIGHT

      *2 Engine Coolant Temperature

      Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and measure the duration of time that the light remains illuminated.

      Light illumination duration
      Refer to the graph

      If the result is not as specified, check the ECM, engine coolant temperature sensor, glow plug and glow plug relay.

  2. INSPECT PRE-HEATING

      *2 Battery Voltage

      Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and measure the length of time that battery voltage is applied to the glow plugs.

      Pre-heating time

      Engine coolant temperature

      40 (104) or more 1 sec.
      40 (104) or less

      Refer to the graph

      (15 sec. at the longest)

      Tech Tips

      The values of the graph fluctuate depending on the engine coolant temperature.

      If the result is not as specified, check the ECM, engine coolant temperature sensor, glow plug and glow plug relay.

    2. Disconnect all connectors from the 4 injectors.

      Turn the ignition switch to the START position. Check that battery voltage is applied to the glow plugs.

    4. While cranking the engine, measure the length of time that battery voltage is applied to the glow plugs.

    5. Reconnect all connectors to the 4 injectors

  3. INSPECT AFTERGLOW TIME


    1. Measure the length of time that battery voltage is applied to the glow plugs.

      After the engine starts, measure the length of time that battery voltage is applied to the glow plugs.
