OIL PUMP INSPECTION


  1. INSPECT OIL PUMP ASSEMBLY


    1. Inspect the clearance between the oil pump drive gear and the pump chamber on the cylinder block sub-assembly.


      1. A01CJCU

        Using a vernier caliper, measure the width of the oil pump drive gear.

        Standard width
        27.02 to 27.04 mm (1.0638 to 1.0646 in.)
      2. A01CHX3

        Using a vernier caliper, measure the depth of the pump chamber on the cylinder block sub-assembly.

        Standard depth
        27.03 to 27.07 mm (1.064 to 1.066 in.)

      3. Calculate the difference between the width of the oil pump drive gear and the depth of the pump chamber on the cylinder block sub-assembly (gasket thickness: 0.06 to 0.10 mm (0.00236 to 0.00394 in.)).

        Standard clearance
        0.047 to 0.147 mm (0.00185 to 0.00579 in.)
        Maximum clearance
        0.17 mm (0.00669 in.)

        If the difference exceeds the limit, replace the oil pump assembly or cylinder block sub-assembly.

    2. Inspect the backlash between the oil pump drive gear and oil pump driven gear.


      1. Using a vise, fix the oil pump assembly in place.

      2. A01CJDD

        Using a dial gauge, measure the backlash between the oil pump drive gear and oil pump driven gear.

        Standard backlash
        0.137 to 0.302 mm (0.00539 to 0.0119 in.)
        Maximum backlash
        0.302 mm (0.0119 in.)

        If the backlash is more than the maximum, replace the oil pump assembly.

    3. Inspect the clearance between the oil pump drive gear shaft and oil pump drive gear bush.


      1. A01CGPG

        Using a micrometer, measure the diameter of the oil pump drive gear shaft.

        Standard shaft diameter
        18.088 to 18.106 mm (0.712 to 0.713 in.)
      2. A01CJ3R

        Using a dial gauge, measure the inside diameter of the oil pump drive gear bush.

        Standard bush inside diameter
        18.146 to 18.187 mm (0.714 to 0.716 in.)

      3. Subtract the diameter measurement of the oil pump drive gear shaft from the inside diameter measurement of the oil pump drive gear bush.

        Standard clearance
        0.040 to 0.099 mm (0.00157 to 0.00390 in.)
        Maximum clearance
        0.130 mm (0.00512 in.)

        If the clearance is more than the maximum, replace the oil pump assembly or cylinder block sub-assembly.

    4. Inspect the clearance between the oil pump driven gear shaft and oil pump driven gear bush.


      1. A01CHPL

        Using a micrometer, measure the diameter of the oil pump driven gear shaft.

        Standard shaft diameter
        17.979 to 17.997 mm (0.708 to 0.709 in.)
      2. A01CIJE

        Using a dial gauge, measure the inside diameter of the oil pump driven gear bush.

        Standard bush inside diameter
        18.037 to 18.054 mm (0.710 to 0.711 in.)

      3. Subtract the diameter measurement of the oil pump driven gear shaft from the inside diameter measurement of the oil pump driven gear bush.

        Standard clearance
        0.040 mm to 0.075 mm (0.00157 to 0.00295 in.)
        Maximum clearance
        0.130 mm (0.00512 in.)

        If the clearance is more than the maximum, replace the oil pump assembly or oil pump driven gear.
