ECD SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:P200C, P244D

DTC Code DTC Name
P200C Diesel Particulate Filter Over Temperature Bank 1
P244D Exhaust Temperature Too High for Particulate Filter Regeneration bank1

DESCRIPTION

P200C
DTC Detection Drive Pattern DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area
Forced PM regeneration control Exhaust gas temperature sensor B1S2 detects abnormally high temperature while vehicle is running (1 trip detection logic).
  • Exhaust gas temperature sensor (bank 1 sensor 2)

  • Center exhaust pipe assembly (DPF catalyst converter)

P244D
DTC Detection Drive Pattern DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area
Forced PM regeneration control Exhaust gas temperature sensor B1S1 detects abnormally high temperature while vehicle is running (1 trip detection logic).
  • Exhaust gas temperature sensor (bank 1 sensor 1)

  • Center exhaust pipe assembly (DPF catalyst converter)

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note

  • Using the intelligent tester to clear DTC P200C and/or P244D will cause the DTC to be output again. Therefore, make sure to clear the DTC by removing a fuse or disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal Click here.

  • When clearing DTCs, make sure to clear the engine history data at the same time Click here.

  • After replacing the ECM, the new ECM needs registration Click here and initialization Click here.

Tech Tips

Read freeze frame data using the intelligent tester. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK OTHER DTC OUTPUT

    1. Replace the normal DLC3 cable (12 V specification) for the intelligent tester with the 24 V DLC3 cable.

      Note

Be sure to use the 24 V DLC3 cable when connecting the intelligent tester to the DLC3. Using the normal DLC3 cable (12 V specification) will cause damage to the tester.

    2. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    4. Turn the tester on.

    5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / DTC.

    6. Read the DTCs.

  2. READ OUTPUT DTC (RECORD STORED DTC AND FREEZE FRAME DATA) (PROCEDURE 2)

    6. Record the stored DTC and freeze frame data.

  3. READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE)

    1. Confirm "Exhaust Temperature B1S1" and "Exhaust Temperature B1S2" in the freeze frame data which was recorded in step 2 and determine which exhaust gas temperature sensor to replace.

      Result
      Result Proceed to
      Except below A
Exhaust Temperature B1S1 value is 740°C (1364°F) or more B
Exhaust Temperature B1S2 value is 940°C (1724°F) or more C
