Accelerate and decelerate the vehicle while keeping the vehicle speed within the range of 0 km/h (0 mph) and 80 km/h (50 mph).

There is no change in the exhaust brake neutral switch assembly signal while the vehicle accelerates from 0 km/h (0 mph) to 80 km/h (50 mph).

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT EXHAUST BRAKE NEUTRAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. Inspect the exhaust brake neutral switch assembly Click here.


    NG
    OK
  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (EXHAUST BRAKE NEUTRAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY - ECM)


    1. Disconnect the exhaust brake neutral switch assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N2-1 - E37-21 (NUSW) Always Below 1 Ω
      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N2-1 or E37-21 (NUSW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the exhaust brake neutral switch assembly connector.

    5. Reconnect the ECM connector.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (EXHAUST BRAKE NEUTRAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND)


    1. Disconnect the exhaust brake neutral switch assembly connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N2-2 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Reconnect the ECM connector.
