DTC Code DTC Name
P244A Diesel Particulate Filter Differential Pressure Too Low
P244B Diesel Particulate Filter Differential Pressure Too High
P2458 Diesel Particulate Filter Regeneration Duration
P2463 Diesel Particulate Filter Restriction - Soot Accumulation
P24A2 Excessive Amount of Fuel Added During DPF Regeneration

DESCRIPTION

A DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) catalyst is located in the center exhaust pipe assembly. A wall-flow type DPF catalyst, which filters all exhaust gas through ceramic walls with high heat resistance, is used to allow the exhaust gas to be organized by the catalyst when flowing through the porous ceramic structure, reducing PM (Particulate Matter) drastically.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note

  • Using the intelligent tester to clear DTC P244A, P244B, P2458, P2463 and/or P24A2 will cause the DTC to be output again. Therefore, make sure to clear the DTC by removing a fuse or disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal Click here.

  • When clearing DTC P244B and/or P2463, the DTC will be output again if the PM accumulation history data is not cleared. Therefore, make sure to clear the PM accumulation history data first Click here.

  • When clearing DTCs, make sure to clear the engine history data at the same time Click here.

  • After replacing the ECM, the new ECM needs registration Click here and initialization Click here.

Tech Tips

  • Read freeze frame data using the intelligent tester. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can be helpful in determining whether the vehicle was moving or stationary, whether the engine was warmed up or not, as well as other data recorded at the time of a malfunction.

  • If the amount of accumulated PM exceeds the specified value, DTC P244A, P244B, P2458, P2463 and/or P24A2 is set and the system enters fail-safe mode, in which the system limits the engine power.

  • Check the amount of engine oil after troubleshooting is finished.

  • If the amount of engine oil is more than the specified level, replace the engine oil.
