ECD SYSTEM CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS

Tech Tips

Inspect the ECM using check mode. Intermittent problems are easier to detect with the intelligent tester when the ECM is in check mode. In check mode, the ECM uses 1 trip detection logic, which is more sensitive to malfunctions than normal mode (default), which uses 2 trip detection logic.

Note

Be sure to use the 24 V DLC3 cable when connecting the intelligent tester to the DLC3. Using the normal DLC3 cable (12 V specification) will cause damage to the tester.

  1. Clear the DTCs Click here.

  2. Switch the ECM from normal mode to check mode using the intelligent tester Click here.

  3. Perform a simulation test.

  4. Check and wiggle the harness(es), connector(s) and terminal(s).
