ECD SYSTEM DTC CHECK / CLEAR

Note

When the diagnosis system is changed from normal mode to check mode or vice versa, all DTCs and freeze frame data recorded in normal mode are cleared. Before changing modes, always check and make a note of DTCs and freeze frame data.

Tech Tips

  • DTCs which are stored in the ECM can be displayed on the intelligent tester. The intelligent tester can display the current and pending DTCs.

  • Some DTCs are not set if the ECM does not detect the same malfunction again during a second consecutive driving cycle. However, such malfunctions, detected on only one occasion, are stored as pending DTCs.

  1. CHECK DTC

    1. Replace the normal DLC3 cable (12 V specification) for the intelligent tester with the 24 V DLC3 cable.

      Note

Be sure to use the 24 V DLC3 cable when connecting the intelligent tester to the DLC3. Using the normal DLC3 cable (12 V specification) will cause damage to the tester.

    2. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    4. Turn the tester on.

    5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / DTC.

  3. CLEAR DTC (not using the intelligent tester)

    1. Remove the DC/DC 1 fuse from the engine room relay block for more than 60 seconds, or disconnect the negative battery cable for more than 60 seconds.
