STEERING PAD INSTALLATION


  1. INSTALL STEERING PAD


    1. Check that the ignition switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Support the steering pad with one hand.

      Connect the horn wire harness connector to the steering pad contact plate.

    5. Connect the airbag connector to the steering pad.

      Note

      When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

    6. Push in the lock plate to lock the airbag connector.

    7. Confirm that the groove along the circumference of the "TORX" screw is attached to the screw case and place the steering pad onto the steering wheel.

    8. Using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench, tighten the 2 "TORX" screws.

      Torque:
      8.8 N*m  { 90 kgf*cm, 78 in.*lbf }
  2. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  3. INSPECT STEERING PAD


    1. With the steering pad installed to the vehicle, perform a visual check. If any of the defects mentioned below are found, replace the steering pad with a new one:

      Cuts, minute cracks or marked discoloration on the steering pad top surface or in the grooved portion.

    2. Make sure that the horn sounds.
