DESCRIPTION

When the airbag ECU assembly detects that the wire harness connector between the airbag ECU assembly and instrument panel wire is not connected properly, DTC B1652 is stored.

One of the following conditions is met:


  • The airbag ECU assembly detects that the wire harness connector between the airbag ECU assembly and instrument panel wire is not connected properly.

  • An airbag ECU assembly malfunction

  • Instrument panel wire

  • Airbag ECU assembly

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note


  • After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notices before proceeding with work Click here.

  • When disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal while performing repairs, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTOR


    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait at least 90 seconds.

    3. Check that the connector is properly connected to the instrument panel wire.

      OK
      The connector is properly connected.

    NG

    CONNECT CONNECTOR PROPERLY

    OK

  2. CHECK CONNECTOR


    1. Disconnect the connector from the airbag ECU assembly.

    2. Check that the connector (on the instrument panel wire side) is not damaged.

      OK
      The connector is not deformed or damaged.

    NG

    REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE

    OK

  3. CHECK AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY


    1. Connect the connector to the airbag ECU assembly.

    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait at least 2 seconds.

    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait at least 60 seconds.

    4. Clear the DTCs stored in memory Click here.

    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

    6. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait at least 60 seconds.

    7. Check for DTCs Click here.

      OK
      DTC B1652 is not output.

    NG
