REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN TUBE
Remove the lower steering column tube from the steering column tube cover.
REMOVE STEERING COLUMN TUBE COVER
Remove the steering column tube cover from the upper steering column tube.
REMOVE LOWER MAIN SHAFT DUST COVER
Remove the lower main shaft dust cover from the lower steering column tube.
Tech Tips
The lower main shaft dust cover is attached to the lower steering column tube with butyl tape. Only perform this operation when replacing the lower main shaft dust cover.
REMOVE TRANSPONDER KEY AMPLIFIER
Disconnect the connector.

Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, detach the 2 claws and remove the transponder key amplifier.
REMOVE STEERING COLUMN UPPER WITH SWITCH BRACKET ASSEMBLY
Secure the upper steering column tube in a vise.
Using a 3 to 4 mm (0.119 to 0.157 in.) diameter drill bit, drill a hole in the 2 steering lock set bolts.
Using a screw extractor, remove the 2 steering lock set bolts.
REMOVE IGNITION SWITCH LOCK CYLINDER
Turn the ignition switch lock cylinder to the ACC position.
Insert a screwdriver into the hole of the steering column upper with switch bracket assembly as shown in the illustration. Pull the ignition switch lock cylinder to remove it.
REMOVE IGNITION OR STARTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY
Remove the unlock warning switch assembly by pushing up the center part and releasing the 2 claws.
Remove the 2 screws and the ignition or starter switch assembly.
