EXHAUST BRAKE RETARDER DISASSEMBLY


  1. REMOVE EXHAUST BRAKE BRACKET COVER


    1. Secure the exhaust retarder assembly in a vice between aluminum plates.

      Note

      DO not overtighten the vise.

      Remove the 2 bolts and exhaust brake bracket cover.

  2. REMOVE VACUUM CYLINDER CLEVIS PIN

      Remove the vacuum cylinder clevis snap pin and washer from the vacuum cylinder clevis pin.

    2. Remove the vacuum cylinder clevis pin from the exhaust brake rod clevis.

  3. REMOVE EXHAUST RETARDER VACUUM CYLINDER ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 2 nuts and exhaust retarder vacuum cylinder assembly.

  4. REMOVE EXHAUST BRAKE ROD CLEVIS


    1. A01CIID

      Loosen the lock nut, and remove the exhaust brake rod clevis and lock nut.

  5. REMOVE ACTUATOR ROD GUIDE COLLAR


    1. Remove the 2 actuator rod guide collars from the exhaust retarder vacuum cylinder assembly.

  6. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST BRAKE CHAMBER INSULATOR

  7. REMOVE NO. 2 EXHAUST BRAKE CHAMBER INSULATOR

  8. REMOVE EXHAUST RETARDER PROTECTOR

  9. REMOVE VACUUM CYLINDER BEARING

  10. REMOVE EXHAUST VALVE LEVER

      Remove the nut and exhaust valve lever.

  11. REMOVE EXHAUST VALVE STOPPER BOLT


    1. A01CH8T

      Remove the 2 nuts and 2 exhaust valve stopper bolts.
