POWER STEERING GEAR REMOVAL


  1. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

  2. TILT UP CAB

  3. DRAIN POWER STEERING FLUID

  4. SEPARATE STEERING SLIDING YOKE

    1. Remove the bolt and slide the steering sliding yoke.

      Note

      Do not separate the steering sliding yoke from the power steering gear assembly.

    2. Put matchmarks on the steering sliding yoke and the power steering gear assembly.

    3. Separate the steering sliding yoke from the power steering gear assembly.

  5. DISCONNECT STEERING GEAR OUTLET RETURN TUBE

    1. Remove the union bolt and 2 gaskets and disconnect the steering gear outlet return tube from the power steering gear assembly.

  6. DISCONNECT PRESSURE FEED HOSE

    1. Remove the union bolt and 2 gaskets and disconnect the pressure feed hose from the power steering gear assembly.

  7. SEPARATE STEERING DRAG LINK ASSEMBLY

    1. Remove the cotter pin and loosen the nut.

    2. Using SST, separate the drag link from the pitman arm.

    3. Remove the nut.

  8. REMOVE POWER STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY

    1. Loosen the 3 bolts and nut.

    2. Remove the 3 bolts, nut, 4 washers and power steering gear assembly.

      Note

      Be careful not to drop the power steering gear assembly because it is extremely heavy.

  9. REMOVE STEERING GEAR HOUSING BRACKET


    1. A01CIRQE01

      Remove the 4 bolts, 4 nuts, 4 washers and the power steering gear housing bracket.

    2. A01CJABE01

      Remove the stud bolt.


      1. Install the 2 nuts to the stud bolt.

      2. Turn the nuts and remove the stud bolt.

  10. REMOVE PITMAN ARM

    1. Secure the power steering gear assembly in a vise.

    2. Using SST, remove the pitman arm.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the sector shaft dust cover.
