PARKING BRAKE CABLE REMOVAL


  1. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Turn the shift lever knob counterclockwise and remove the shift lever knob sub-assembly.

  2. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE HOLE COVER

      Remove the 3 screws and parking brake hole cover.

  3. REMOVE SHIFTING HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. A01CISL

      Disconnect the 2 clips and 4 claws, and then remove the shifting hole cover sub-assembly.

  4. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER BOOT COVER

      Remove the 3 clips and shift lever boot cover.

  5. REMOVE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY


    1. Loosen the lock nut and disconnect the No. 2 parking brake cable assembly from the parking brake lever assembly.

      Remove the 2 bolts and separate the No. 2 parking brake cable assembly from the floor panel.

    3. Pull out the No. 2 parking brake cable assembly to the outside of the cabin.

      Disconnect the flanges from the bracket by removing the nut.

      Twist casing cap B 90°.

    6. Separate casing caps A and B.

      *2 No. 3 Parking Brake Cable Assembly

      Disconnect the No. 2 parking brake cable assembly from the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

    8. Remove the bolt, 3 nuts, and the No. 2 parking brake cable assembly from each cable bracket and 2 clamps.

  6. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY

  9. REMOVE MANUAL TRANSMISSION OUTPUT SHAFT REAR SET NUT

      Using a chisel and a hammer, release the staked part of the transmission output shaft rear set nut.

    2. Pull the parking brake lever fully, and shift into the reverse position.

    3. A01CHRW

      Using a 36 mm socket wrench, remove the transmission output shaft rear set nut.

    4. Using a screwdriver, remove the O-ring.

  10. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE DRUM SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Remove the bolt and dust cover from the parking brake drum.

    2. A01CJER

      Fully apply then release the parking brake.

      Tech Tips

      If the brake drum cannot be removed easily, remove the rubber plug, and turn the shoe adjuster in the direction of the illustrated arrow mark until the drum turns freely.

    3. Remove the parking brake drum sub-assembly and companion flange.

  11. REMOVE FLANGE

  12. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN TENSION SPRING

      Using SST, remove the 2 parking brake shoe return tension springs.

    2. Remove the plate washer.

      Using SST, remove the parking brake shoe return tension spring.

      Using SST, remove the 2 return springs.

  13. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE


    1. A01CGOLE01

      Using SST, remove the shoe hold down springs, shoe hold down cups and shoe hold down pins.

    2. Remove the parking brake shoe lever strut.

    3. Remove the parking brake shoe.

    4. Remove the parking brake shoe adjuster sub-assembly.

    5. Using needle-nose pliers, disconnect the parking brake cable from the shoe lever.

  14. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTER SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Using SST, remove the shoe hold down springs, shoe hold down cups and shoe hold down pins.

    2. Remove the parking brake shoe lever strut.

    3. Remove the parking brake shoe.

    4. Remove the parking brake shoe adjuster sub-assembly.

    5. Using needle-nose pliers, disconnect the parking brake cable from the shoe lever.

  15. REMOVE NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.
