PARKING BRAKE LEVER INSTALLATION


  1. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. A01CJFRE01

      Install the parking brake switch with the 2 screws.

      Torque:
      Screw A
      1.5 N*m  { 15 kgf*cm, 13 in.*lbf }
      Screw B
      0.6 N*m  { 6 kgf*cm, 5 in.*lbf }

  2. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE LEVER ASSEMBLY


    1. Connect the No. 2 parking brake cable assembly to the parking brake lever assembly.

    2. Install the parking brake lever assembly with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      20 N*m  { 199 kgf*cm, 14 ft.*lbf }

    3. Connect the parking brake switch assembly connector.

  3. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE SHOE CLEARANCE (See Pub. No. RM1008E, page 33-14)

  4. INSPECT PARKING BRAKE TRAVEL


    1. Pull the parking brake lever firmly.

    2. Release the parking brake lock, and return the parking brake lever to its off position.

    3. Slowly pull the parking brake lever all the way up, and count the number of clicks.

      Parking brake lever travel
      6 to 10 notches at 245 N (25 kgf, 55 lbf)

    4. If incorrect, adjust the parking brake.

  5. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE TRAVEL


    1. Completely release the parking brake lever.

      Loosen the lock nut and adjusting nut to completely release the parking brake cable.

    3. Strongly step on the brake pedal 3 to 5 times with the engine stopped.

    4. Turn the adjusting nut until the parking brake lever travel is corrected within the specified range.

      Parking brake lever travel
      6 to 10 notches at 245 N (25 kgf, 55 lbf)

    5. Tighten the lock nut.

      Torque:
      5.0 N*m  { 51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf }

    6. Operate the parking brake lever 3 to 4 times, and check the parking brake lever travel.

    7. Check whether the parking brake drags or not.

    8. When operating the parking brake lever, check that the brake warning light illuminates.

      OK
      Brake warning light always illuminates at the first click.

  6. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE HOLE COVER


    1. Install the parking brake hole cover with the 3 screws.
