POWER STEERING LINK INSPECTION


  1. INSPECT STEERING DRAG LINK ASSEMBLY

    A01CJ8V

    1. Secure the steering drag link assembly in a vise.

    2. Install the nut to the stud bolt.

    3. Flip the ball joint back and forth 5 times or more.

    4. Using a torque wrench, turn the nut continuously at a rate of 3 to 5 seconds per turn and take the torque reading on the 5th turn.

      Torque:
      Turning torque
      3.0 to 10 N*m  { 31 to 101 kgf*cm, 27 to 88 in.*lbf }

      Perform the same procedure for other side.

      If the turning torque is not within the specified range, replace the steering drag link assembly.

  2. INSPECT TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

    A01CJ8V

    1. Secure the tie rod assembly LH in a vise.

    2. Install the nut to the stud bolt.

    3. Flip the ball joint back and forth 5 times or more.

    4. Using a torque wrench, turn the nut continuously at a rate of 3 to 5 seconds per turn and take the torque reading on the 5th turn.

      Torque:
      3.0 to 10 N*m  { 31 to 101 kgf*cm, 27 to 88 in.*lbf }

      If the turning torque is not within the specified range, replace the tie rod assembly LH.

  3. INSPECT TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

    Tech Tips

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.
