FRONT BRAKE REMOVAL

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.

  • The procedures listed below are for the LH side.


  1. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID

    Note

    Wash brake fluid off immediately if it adheres to any painted surface.

  2. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL

    Tech Tips

    The thread direction of the hub nuts for the LH side is opposite to that of the RH side.

  3. REMOVE DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the union bolt and 2 gaskets and disconnect the flexible hose from the disc brake cylinder assembly.

      Remove the 2 bolts and disc brake cylinder assembly.

  4. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD


    1. Remove the 2 brake pads with anti squeal shims.

  5. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM


    1. Remove the 4 front disc brake anti-squeal shims from each pad.

  6. REMOVE NO. 1 FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD SUPPORT PLATE


    1. Remove the 2 No. 1 front disc brake pad support plates from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.

  7. REMOVE NO. 2 FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD SUPPORT PLATE


    1. Remove the 2 No. 2 front disc brake pad support plates from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.

  8. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE PIN

  9. REMOVE NO. 1 BUSHING DUST BOOT

  10. REMOVE NO. 2 BUSHING DUST BOOT

  11. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER MOUNTING


    1. A01CIGB

      Remove the 3 bolts and the front disc brake cylinder mounting.

  12. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB OUTER BEARING

  13. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY

    (See Pub. No. RM1008E, page 30-45)

  14. REMOVE FRONT DISC

    (See Pub. No. RM1008E, page 30-45)
