DESCRIPTION

The skid control ECU receives engine speed signals from the engine ECU via the tachometer circuit.

DTC Code DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area
C1389/118 With normal battery voltage, the clutch pedal released, gear engaged and the vehicle driven at 20 km/h (12 mph) or more, the engine is not running for 3 seconds or more.
  • Open or short in wire harness

  • Improperly connected connector or corroded terminal

  • Combination meter

  • Skid control ECU

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK TACHOMETER


    1. Use wheel chocks to secure the vehicle.

    2. Start the engine.

    3. Confirm the tachometer display in the combination meter Click here.

      OK
      The tachometer display changes in proportion to the engine speed.

    OK
  2. INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU (TACH CIRCUIT)

      Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S12-7 (TACH) - Body ground Engine running Below 2 V ←→ 10 V or more

      Note

      Perform the above inspection when connecting the skid control ECU actuator.

  3. RECONFIRM DTC


    1. Clear the DTCs Click here.

    2. Perform a road test.

    3. Check if the same DTC is recorded Click here.
