DESCRIPTION

The ES start main switch controls the on/off state of the ES start system.

If a malfunction occurs in the switch circuit, the skid control ECU will store DTC C1386/116.

DTC Code DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area
C1386/116 Both the ON signal circuit and OFF signal circuit of the ES start main switch are shorted for 0.9 seconds or more, or open for 5 seconds or more.

  • Open or short in wire harness

  • Improperly connected connector or corroded terminal

  • ES start timing switch

  • Skid control ECU

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT ES START TIMING SWITCH (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT)

      Disconnect the ES start timing switch connector.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E30-5 (MSW+) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 20 to 32 V

    NG

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT)

    OK

  2. INSPECT ES START TIMING SWITCH


    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. A01CHKU

      Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      5 (MSW+) - 6 (MSW1) ES start main switch OFF Below 1 Ω
      ES start main switch ON 10 kΩ or higher
      5 (MSW+) - 7 (MSW2) ES start main switch OFF 10 kΩ or higher
      ES start main switch ON Below 1 Ω

    NG

    REPLACE ES START TIMING SWITCH

    OK

  3. INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU (MAIN SWITCH INPUT CIRCUIT)

      Install the ES start timing switch connector.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S12-4 (S/M1) - Body ground ES start main switch OFF Below 2 V
      ES start main switch ON 20 to 32 V
      S12-3 (S/M2) - Body ground ES start main switch OFF 20 to 32 V
      ES start main switch ON Below 2 V

    NG

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK

  4. RECONFIRM DTC


    1. Clear the DTCs Click here.

    2. Check if the same DTC is recorded Click here.
