EASY AND SMOOTH START SYSTEM ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION


  1. CHECK ES START SYSTEM OPERATION


    1. Perform inspection according to the table below.

      Put the vehicle in the following conditions:


      • ES start timing switch assembly ON

      • Parking brake released

      • DLC3 (TC - CG) is not shorted

      • Vehicle stopped (engine running)

      • Configuration of brake release position complete

      • Shift lever is in N, or shift gears and depress clutch pedal

      2 Depress the brake pedal and operate ES start system. Light ES start indicator illuminates If there is a malfunction on the anti-lock brake system side, ES start system does not operate (when ABS / brake warning light illuminated).
      Buzzer Sounds briefly
      Braking force Braking force is maintained
      3 Perform normal starting operation (shift gears and engage the clutch) or operate the parking brake. Light ES start indicator goes off ES start system is released.

      4 Open the driver door. Buzzer Repeated short beeps

      During ES start system operation

      5 Close the driver door and depress the brake pedal. Buzzer Buzzer stops sounding

      During ES start system operation

      10 Buzzer sounds at 1 minute intervals of operation time. Buzzer

      Reports the ES start system operating time every minute

      1 minute elapsed: 1 short beep

      2 minutes elapsed: 2 short beeps

      3 minutes elapsed: 3 short beeps

      4 minutes elapsed: 4 short beeps

      5 minutes elapsed: 5 short beeps

      6 minutes elapsed: 6 short beeps

      7 minutes elapsed: 7 short beeps

      8 minutes elapsed: 8 short beeps

      9 minutes elapsed: 9 short beeps

      10 minutes or more elapsed: continuous short beeps

      Check operation time information

      During ES start system operation

      Depress the brake pedal. Buzzer Operating time is reset
      11 Clutch engagement distance varies according to operation of ES start timing switch assembly. Buzzer

      FAST side: short beep

      Neutral position: long beep

      SLOW side: 2 short beeps

      Release timing adjustment function

      During ES start system operation (If ES start timing switch assembly is not ON, adjustment cannot be performed).

  2. CHECK ALARM OPERATION


    1. The ES start system uses illumination of the ES start indicator light and buzzer sounds to inform the driver of malfunctions, risk conditions or operation processes. Refer to the table below.

      • Turn the ES start timing switch assembly off or turn the ignition switch off.

      • Perform troubleshooting by checking for DTCs.

      Illuminates Sounds continuously Leaving seat alarm While the ES start system is operating, a door is opened. Close the door and depress the brake pedal, or cancel ES start system (turn the ES start timing switch assembly off, and apply the parking brake or start driving the vehicle)
      Goes Off Sounds continuously Key OFF alarm While the ES start system is operating and the shift lever is in N, the ignition switch is turned off.
      • Allow 30 seconds to elapse after alarm sounds.

      • Securely apply the parking brake.

      • Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      Illuminates Sounds continuously Vehicle moving alarm While the ES start system is operating and the shift lever is in N, the vehicle starts to move.
      • Securely apply the parking brake.

      • Further depress the brake pedal.

      • Securely apply the parking brake

      • Further depress the brake pedal (When further depressing the brake pedal, the time will be reset and it will start counting again). Depress the brake pedal again (When the brake pedal is depressed again, the time will be reset and it will start counting again).
