EASY AND SMOOTH START SYSTEM ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

CHECK ES START SYSTEM OPERATION

CAUTION:

Make sure that the vehicle does not move forward or roll backwards when inspecting on an incline.
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
2. Check the illumination of the ES start indicator light on the combination meter and listen for the buzzer sound.

  The ES start indicator light comes on for 3 seconds and the buzzer makes one short beep.
  Tech Tips
  - When the clutch pedal stroke sensor zero point and release position are not calibrated, the ES start indicator light will blink. Therefore perform clutch pedal stroke sensor zero point calibration and release position calibration Click here.
  - If the ES start main switch is malfunctioning, the ES start indicator light will blink and the buzzer will sound even if the switch is off.
3. Confirm the following ES start system operation conditions:
  1. The engine is running.
  2. The ES start main switch is on.
  3. The parking brake is released.
4. Check that the buzzer makes one short beep, the ES start indicator light comes on and the ES start system operates after depressing the brake pedal for 1 second with the vehicle speed at 0 km/h.
5. Check that the braking effort does not change.
6. Check that the ES start system is canceled by shifting into gear and releasing the clutch pedal.

CHECK ALARM OPERATION

The ES start system uses illumination of the ES start indicator light and buzzer sounds to inform the driver of malfunctions, risk conditions or operation processes. Refer to the table below.

		Vehicle moving alarm	While the ES start system is operating and the shift lever is in N, the vehicle starts to move.	Securely apply the parking brake. Further depress the brake pedal.
