EASY AND SMOOTH START SYSTEM DTC CHECK / CLEAR

  1. CHECK DTC

    1. Using Intelligent Tester

      1. Replace the normal DLC3 cable (12 V specification) for the intelligent tester with the 24 V DLC3 cable.

        Note

Be sure to use the 24 V DLC3 cable when connecting the intelligent tester to the DLC3. Using the normal DLC3 cable (12 V specification) will cause damage to the tester.

      2. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

      3. Turn the ignition switch to ON

      4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Vehicle Control / Trouble Codes.

        Tech Tips

Refer to the intelligent tester operator's manual for further details.

    2. Using SST Check Wire

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and check the blinking pattern of the master warning light.

        Tech Tips

        • When the system is operating correctly, the master warning light will blink continuously in a pattern of 0.3 seconds on, then 0.3 seconds off.

        • When there is a malfunction, the master warning light will output the DTC Code by flashes at 0.5 second intervals (For example, Code 21 would be output as 2 flashes, a 1.5 second pause, and then 1 flash).

        • When one DTC is output, the master warning light will output the same code at 4.3 second intervals.

        • When 2 or more DTCs are output, the master warning light will output a different code at 4.3 second intervals, and when all codes have been output, there will be a 4.3 second pause and the sequence will repeat.

        • When multiple DTCs are set, they are output in order starting with the lowest code number.

        • If no code is output (the light does not blink), there may be an open circuit in the TC terminal circuit, or a malfunction in the ECU.

        • If the master warning light is continuously illuminated, there may be a short in the wire harness or a malfunction in the ECU.

        • If a meaningless code is output, there may be a malfunction in the ECU.

  2. CLEAR DTC

      5. Clear the DTCs by following the prompts on the intelligent tester

        Tech Tips

Refer to the intelligent tester operator's manual for further details.

        Note

Make sure to use the intelligent tester to clear the DTCs. The DTCs cannot be cleared by shorting the terminals of the DLC3.
