EASY AND SMOOTH START SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM

  1. BATTERY VOLTAGE

If the voltage is below 20 V, charge or replace the battery before proceeding to the next step.

  2. DLC3 (Data Link Connector 3)

    1. Check the DLC3 Click here.

  3. FREEZE FRAME DATA

The ECU records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can be helpful in determining whether the vehicle was moving or stationary, whether the engine was warmed up or not, as well as other data recorded at the time of a malfunction.

  4. WARNING LIGHT AND INDICATOR LIGHT INITIAL CHECK

    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    2. Check that the ES start indicator light in the combination meter assembly illuminates, and then goes off after 1 second.

      Tech Tips

If the ES start indicator does not illuminate, check that the bulb is not burned out, inspect the wiring between the electric vehicle control ECU assembly and the combination meter assembly and inspect the electric vehicle control ECU assembly.

    3. Check that the master warning light in the combination meter assembly illuminates, and then goes off after 3 seconds.

      Tech Tips

If the master warning light does not illuminate, check that the bulb is not burned out, inspect the wiring between the electric vehicle control ECU assembly and the combination meter assembly and inspect the electric vehicle control ECU assembly. If the master warning light in the combination meter assembly is still illuminated after 3 seconds, check for DTC output and perform inspection for any applicable DTCs. If no DTCs are output, inspect the wiring between the electric vehicle control ECU assembly and the combination meter assembly and inspect the electric vehicle control ECU assembly.
