STEERING ANGLE SENSOR REMOVAL


  1. PRECAUTION

    Note

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Click here.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  3. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY

  4. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER


    1. A01CGLQ

      Remove the 5 screws.

    2. Disengage the 4 claws and remove the lower steering column cover.

  5. REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER


    1. Disengage the 3 claws and separate the steering column cover plate.

    2. Remove the upper steering column cover from the steering column.

  6. REMOVE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY

      *2 Airbag Connector (Yellow Colored)

      Pull the lock slider in the direction indicated by the arrow to release the connector lock and disconnect the airbag connector (yellow colored) from the spiral cable sub-assembly.

      Note

      When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

    2. A01CIWP

      Disconnect the connector from the spiral cable sub-assembly.

    3. Detach the 3 claws and remove the spiral cable sub-assembly.

      Note


      • Do not replace the spiral cable sub-assembly when the ignition switch is ON and the battery cable is connected.

      • Do not rotate the spiral cable when the ignition switch is ON and the battery cable is connected.

      • Make sure the steering wheel is installed and centered before rotating the steering angle sensor when performing steering angle sensor operation inspections (inspecting for abnormal noise, diagnosis inspections, etc.).

      • Do not remove the steering angle sensor from the spiral cable sub-assembly.
