When any of following conditions detected:


  • Speed sensor signal open circuit continues for 0.5 seconds or more continuously.

  • While IG terminal voltage is within the normal range, speed sensor power source voltage is in a reduced condition for 0.5 seconds or more continuously.


  • Harness or connector

  • Front speed sensor RH/LH

  • Brake actuator assembly

  • DTC C1405 is for the front speed sensor RH.

  • DTC C1406 is for the front speed sensor LH.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT FRONT SPEED SENSOR


    1. Remove the front speed sensor.

      Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 20°C (68°F) 0.9 to 1.3 kΩ
      1 - Sensor housing Always 10 MΩ or higher
      2 - Sensor housing Always 10 MΩ or higher
    3. Reinstall the front speed sensor.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY - FRONT SPEED SENSOR)


    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the B9 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.

    3. Disconnect the F26 and/or F25 front speed sensor connector.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      B9-6 (FR+) - F26-1 (FR+) Always Below 1 Ω
      B9-7 (FR-) - F26-2 (FR-) Always Below 1 Ω
      B9-6 (FR+) or F26-1 (FR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B9-7 (FR-) or F26-2 (FR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      B9-19 (FL+) - F25-1 (FL+) Always Below 1 Ω
      B9-18 (FL-) - F25-2 (FL-) Always Below 1 Ω
      B9-19 (FL+) or F25-1 (FL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B9-18 (FL-) or F25-2 (FL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    5. Reconnect the B9 skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.

    6. Reconnect the F26 and/or F25 front speed sensor connector.

  3. RECONFIRM DTC


    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Clear the DTC Click here.

    3. Start the engine.

    4. Drive the vehicle at a speed of 40 km/h (25 mph) or more for at least 60 seconds.

    5. Check if the same DTC is recorded Click here.
