PRECAUTION FOR DISCONNECTING THE CABLE FROM THE NEGATIVE (-) BATTERY TERMINAL
The electric vehicle control ECU assembly records learning values to memory after the ignition switch is turned off. For this reason, after turning the ignition switch off, make sure to wait at least 15 seconds before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
PRECAUTIONS FOR REPLACING THE ELECTRIC VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY AND CLUTCH PEDAL STROKE SENSOR ASSEMBLY
Note
After replacing the electric vehicle control ECU assembly, perform clutch pedal stroke sensor assembly release position calibration Click here.
After replacing the clutch pedal stroke sensor assembly, perform clutch pedal stroke sensor zero point calibration and release position calibration Click here.
TROUBLESHOOTING PRECAUTIONS
When there is a malfunction with terminal contact points or part installation problems, disconnecting and reconnecting connectors or removal and reinstallation of the suspected parts may return the system to its normal condition either completely or temporarily.
In order to accurately determine the malfunctioning area, be sure to check the conditions at the time the malfunction occurred, such as DTC output and malfunction symptoms, and record them before disconnecting each connector or removing and installing parts.
Since the system may be influenced by malfunctions in systems other than the ES start system, be sure to check for DTCs in other systems.
Tech Tips
If any DTCs for the anti-lock brake system are stored, repair the anti-lock brake system first.
HANDLING PRECAUTIONS
Be sure to perform preparation before work and confirmation after work is completed by following the directions in the repair manual when working on the ES start system.
Be sure to remove and install the ECU, actuator, and each sensor, etc. with the ignition switch turned off and the system off, unless specifically instructed otherwise in the inspection procedure.
Tech Tips
The ES start system may be powered by the +B circuit even after the ignition switch is turned off.
Since the ES start system must be turned off before performing any work, observe the following precautions:
After turning the ignition switch off, wait until the VCS ACT relay makes an operating sound (10-15 seconds). Do not disconnect the connector immediately.
If the ignition switch is turned off while the ES start system is still operating, the buzzer will sound for 30 seconds. After the buzzer stops sounding, wait until the VCS ACT relay makes an operating sound (10-15 seconds) before disconnecting the connector.
DTC PRECAUTION
Warnings for some DTCs will not be cleared by just replacing the defective parts. If a warning is still displayed after completing a repair, turn the ignition switch off before beginning the procedure for clearing DTCs.
Note
If a part is still malfunctioning even after the DTC is cleared, the DTC will be stored again.
