ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM DTC CHECK / CLEAR

  1. DTC CHECK / CLEAR (Using Intelligent Tester)

    1. Check the DTC.

      1. Replace the normal DLC3 cable (12 V specification) for the intelligent tester with the 24 V DLC3 cable.

        Note

Be sure to use the 24 V DLC3 cable when connecting the intelligent tester to the DLC3. Using the normal DLC3 cable (12 V specification) will cause damage to the tester.

      2. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

      3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      4. Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRC / Trouble Codes.

        Tech Tips

Refer to the intelligent tester operator's manual for further details.

  2. DTC CHECK / CLEAR (Using SST Check Wire)

      Check the DTC.

      1. Using SST, connect terminals 13 (TC) and 4 (CG) of the DLC3.

        SST

      2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      3. Count the number of blinks of the ABS warning light.

        Tech Tips

        • When the system is operating correctly, each light will blink continuously in a pattern of 0.25 seconds on, then 0.25 seconds off.

        • When one DTC is output, each light will output the same code at 4 second intervals. (For example, Code 21 would be output as 2 flashes, a 1.5 second pause, and then 1 flash)

        • When 2 or more DTCs are output, each light will output a different code at 2.5 second intervals, and when all codes have been output, there will be a 4 second pause and the sequence will repeat.

        • When multiple codes are set, they are output in order starting with the lowest DTC number.

        • If no code is output, inspect the 13 (TC) and 4 (CG) terminal circuit and the ABS warning light circuits.

      5. Disconnect terminals 13 (TC) and 4 (CG) of the DLC3. If 2 or more DTCs are output at the same time, the DTCs are output in ascending order.

    2. Clear the DTC.

      1. Turn the ignition switch off.

      3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      4. Clear the DTCs stored in the ECU by depressing the brake pedal 8 times or more within 5 seconds.

      5. Check that the ABS warning light blink at 0.25 second intervals (0.25 seconds on and 0.25 seconds off).

      6. Remove SST from the terminals of the DLC3.

        Tech Tips

Clearing the DTCs cannot be performed by disconnecting the battery terminal or the ECU-IG NO. 1 fuse.

  3. END OF DTC CHECK/CLEAR

    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    2. Check that the ABS warning light goes off within approximately 3 seconds.
