REAR LEAF SPRING INSTALLATION

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.


  1. INSTALL REAR NO. 2 SPRING SHACKLE SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. A01CHPG

      Apply grease to the rear spring bracket pin.

      Grease
      Special grease for chassis

    2. Install the rear No. 2 spring shackle sub-assembly with the rear spring bracket pin, bolt, washer and nut.

      Torque:
      52 N*m  { 530 kgf*cm, 38 ft.*lbf }

  2. INSTALL REAR SPRING ASSEMBLY


    1. Place the rear spring assembly on the rear axle housing.

    2. Align the hole of the rear axle housing with the head of the spring center bolt.

    3. A01CI22

      Jack up the rear axle housing.

    4. Apply grease to the 2 rear spring bracket pins.

      Special grease for chassis
    5. A01CJBJ

      Connect the front of the rear spring assembly with the rear spring bracket pin, and then install the bolt, washer and nut.

      Torque:
      52 N*m  { 530 kgf*cm, 38 ft.*lbf }
    6. A01CJ3S

      Connect the rear of the rear spring assembly with the rear spring bracket pin, and then install the bolt, washer and nut.

      Torque:
      52 N*m  { 530 kgf*cm, 38 ft.*lbf }

  3. INSTALL REAR SPRING BRACKET PIN GREASE NIPPLE


    1. A01CJ8C

      Install the rear spring bracket pin grease nipple on the front of the rear spring assembly.

    2. A01CHNV

      Install the 2 rear spring bracket pin grease nipples on the rear of the rear spring assembly.

    3. Using a grease gun, apply grease to the 3 rear spring bracket pins.

  4. INSTALL REAR SPRING U BOLT


    1. A01CHYM

      Install the spring U bolt seat sub-assembly, rear upper spring seat and 2 rear spring U bolts with the 4 nuts and 4 washers.

      Torque:
      290 N*m  { 2957 kgf*cm, 214 ft.*lbf }

  5. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY


    1. A01CIV7

      Temporarily tighten the rear shock absorber assembly to the rear axle housing with the bolt.

  6. INSTALL REAR WHEEL

    Torque:
    515 N*m  { 5250 kgf*cm, 380 ft.*lbf }

  7. STABILIZE SUSPENSION


    1. Lower the vehicle.

    2. Bounce the vehicle up and down several times to stabilize the suspension.

  8. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY


    1. A01CIV7

      Fully tighten the bolt.

      Torque:
      68 N*m  { 693 kgf*cm, 50 ft.*lbf }

  9. CONNECT REAR STABILIZER BAR (w/ Rear Stabilizer)


    1. A01CGKFE01

      Connect the rear stabilizer bar with the rear outer stabilizer end bracket LH, rear inner stabilizer end bracket LH, bolt (A), 2 bolts (B) and 2 washers.

      Torque:
      Bolt (A)
      140 N*m  { 1428 kgf*cm, 103 ft.*lbf }
      Bolt (B)
      76 N*m  { 775 kgf*cm, 56 ft.*lbf }
