WIPER AND WASHER SYSTEM(w/ Rain Sensor) Rain Sensor Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The windshield wiper relay assembly receives a signal from the rain sensor to control the auto wiper system.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RAIN SENSOR - IG1 NO. 1 RELAY AND BODY GROUND)

      Disconnect the L5 rain sensor connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      L5-4 (SIG) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L5-2 (ES) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RAIN SENSOR - WINDSHIELD WIPER RELAY ASSEMBLY)


    1. Disconnect the L5 rain sensor connector.

    2. Disconnect the F72 windshield wiper relay assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L5-1 (MPX) - F72-14 (MPX1) Always Below 1 Ω
      L5-1 (MPX) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  3. CHECK RAIN SENSOR

      Reconnect the rain sensor connector.

    2. Connect an oscilloscope to the rain sensor connector.

    3. Check for pulses.
