Tech Tips
Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.
The procedure listed below is for the LH side.
PROCEDURE
REMOVE BACK DOOR STAY ASSEMBLY
| *1 | Protective Tape |
Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, slightly raise the 2 stop rings, as shown in the illustration.
Note
Do not touch the rod of the stay with gloves, to prevent fibers from adhering.
When foreign matter adheres to the rod, it prevents the rod from moving smoothly and reduces its holding power.
Disengage the 2 ball joints and remove the back door stay.
Note
Do not remove the stop rings from the stay. Raise the stop rings just enough to allow the stay to be disengaged.
Do not reuse a stop ring if it is removed from the stay.
REMOVE BACK DOOR DAMPER STAY UPPER BRACKET
Remove the 2 bolts and the back door damper stay upper bracket.
REMOVE BACK DOOR DAMPER STAY LOWER BRACKET
Remove the 2 bolts and the back door damper stay lower bracket.
